There Will Be High-Level High School Wrestling in Gallagher-Iba This Weekend

One of the more major high school wrestling events on the calendar takes places this weekend, and they’ll scrap it out in Stillwater.

Gallagher-Iba Arena is playing host to Flo’s Who’s Number One on Saturday, with girls matches starting at 2 p.m. and the boys getting going at 5:30 p.m. The event sees two of the top high school wrestlers in the country at each weight class square off to decide … well, who is number one.

This year’s lineup features one Oklahoma State commit in Michael Romero. Romero will take on Nebraska commit Mac Crosson at 157 pounds. The two wrestled at Fargo last year, with Romero winning that bout 5-3.

Out of California, Romero pledged to the Pokes in April. He’s the No. 17 overall prospect on Flo’s Big Board for the 2027 class. He won a Doc Buchanan title this year at 153 pounds, beating Joe Bachmann — the No. 11 overall wrestler on that big board — in the finals.
