Out of St. John Bosco, Romero won a state title at 150 pounds, pinning his first three opponents in the bracket.
He’s coming off a win at the Doc Buchanan at 153 pounds, beating Joe Bachmann, the No. 3 wrestler on Flo’s 2027 big board, in the final.
He’s also won at the Reno Tournament of Champions in December. Of his six matches at that event, Romero had a pair of pins and three technical falls.
He took fourth at Fargo last year and fifth at Super 32, with both of those results coming at 144 pounds.
Back in 2022, Romero won a U16 Fargo title at 100 pounds.
His commitment also keeps a steady stream of Californian’s coming to Stillwater, joining the likes of Cody Merrill and incoming freshman Rocklin Zinkin.
Romero makes it four pledges in Taylor’s 2027 class, joining No. 7 Ignacio Villasenor, No. 9 Tanner Hodgins and No. 39 Ladd Holman.
