Stillwater High Standout Ignacio Villasenor Commits to Oklahoma State
Villasenor is a U17 world medalist in the 2027 class.
Ignacio Villasenor announced on Friday that he is staying in Stillwater.
Villasenor, of Stillwater High School, announced his commitment to Oklahoma State. He is an age-group world medalist, earning bronze at the U17 World Championships in 2023 at 45 kg (about 99 pounds). Villasenor is the No. 4 recruit in the 2027 class, according to Flo’s Big Board.
“I am so excited to announce that I have committed to Oklahoma State University.” Villasenor wrote in an Instagram post. “I want to thank my parents, coaches, family, and friends for all their support and encouragement. They have helped me every step of the way, and I couldn’t have done it without them. I’m truly grateful for their love, support and belief in me.
“I’m looking forward to starting this new chapter at OSU, I couldn’t be any prouder of myself, as this has been a goal/dream of mine for a very long time.”
Villasenor won at Flo’s Who’s Number One event last year, beating Domenic Munaretto, the No. 18 wrestler on Flo’s big board for the 2026 class.
More recently, Villasenor finished third at the U17 U.S. Open at 55 kg (about 121 pounds) in April. He then won the 57 kg bracket at the U20 World Team Trials in but lost to Anthony Knox in a best-of-three series, 2-1.
Villasenor won a state title with the Pioneers in 2025 at 113 pounds, winning each of his three matches at state with bonus points. He transferred into Stillwater this past school year after winning a Colorado state title at 113 pounds as a freshman in 2024.
