OSU Wrestling: Kaden Gfeller To Wrestle The Postseason at 141
A significant move for OSU heading into the Big 12 Tournament.
Oklahoma State announced via social media that Kaden Gfeller is cutting down to 141 for the Big 12 tournament and postseason.
Here’s what John Smith had to say about the move from OSU’s Facebook page.
“With the short notice, if he can compete at a high level, he can do some real damage,” said Smith.
Kaid Brock was the original starter for the Cowboys at 141 before suffering a season-ending knee injury. He was replaced by Dusty Hone. In the finals of the Cowboy Challenge Tournament, Hone went down with an apparent knee injury as well and was unable to continue competing. He did not wrestle at Bedlam the next week and was replaced by 125 pounder Jakason Burks. Now Gfeller is moving to 141.
The Cowboys could really use the help here as the Big 12 Tournament should be a tight team race. It won’t be an easy cut for Gfeller and will be interesting to see how he handles it. Gfeller was the Big 12 Champion at 149 in 2019.
Here are the pre-seeds for the tournament at 141.
- Ian Parker (ISU)
- Dom Demas (OU)
- Clay Carlson (SDSU)
- DJ Lloren (FS)
- Lenny Petersen (AF)
- Chris Sandoval (UNC)
- Dylan Droegemueller (NDSU)
- Chase Zollman (WYO)
