Cade Cunningham Named AP First Team All-American
He is the only underclassman on the First Team.
For the first time in program history, Oklahoma State has a First Team AP All-American.
The Associated Press released its All-American teams Tuesday morning which featured Cade Cunningham along with Iowa’s Luka Garza, Baylor’s Jared Butler, Illinois’ Ayo Dosunmu and Gonzaga’s Corey Kispert on the First Team.
Cunningham, a freshman, was the only underclassman on the First Team. The honor adds to the myriad awards he has earned in his one-year stint in college basketball along with the Big 12 Player of the Year, Big 12 Freshman of the Year, the Sporting News Freshman of the year and a host of others.
Entering the NCAA Tournament, Cunningham averages 20.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists a game. Since mid-February, he has averaged 23.9 points a game, including outings of 40 points against Oklahoma and 29 points against Texas in the Big 12 title game.
Although he is the Cowboys’ first First Team selection, he isn’t the first Cowboy to be an AP All-American.
