Oklahoma State Offers New Mexico Transfer Center Bayron Matos
OSU targets a new big.
As the transfer portal keeps churning, Mike Boynton is still after a big man.
Oklahoma State offered New Mexico transfer Bayron Matos on Thursday. Matos was on PFB’s list of 11 guys to watch earlier this month after he self-reported that OSU’s staff had reached out to him since he hit the portal, and now he has an official offer.
Since hitting the portal, Matos has announced offers from Seton Hall, USF, St. John’s, Tulsa, Washington State, Tennessee State and ETSU.
Listed at 6-foot-9, 215 pounds, Matos is originally out of the Dominican Republic before attending Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in Tennessee.
As a freshman for the Lobos this past season, Matos averaged six points, 4.1 rebounds and 18.9 minutes a game. He started 15 of the 20 games he played in.
His best game of this past season came against LeTourneau in December, where Matos scored 16 points and brought in six rebounds.
It’s clear Boynton is after at least one big man to add to his frontcourt. The Cowboys were in the running for Fordham center Joel Soriano before he committed to St. John’s on Thursday.
