Under Armour All-American Puts OSU in Top 12 Schools

Blue-chip offensive line recruit Lucas Simmons, a 6-foot-7 offensive tackle in the 2023 recruiting cycle, announced on Wednesday that he has trimmed his list of schools from 34 to 12. The four-star Floridian named Oklahoma State among that loaded group of contenders that also included Florida State, Michigan, USC, Tennessee, Baylor, Penn State, Pitt, Mississippi State, Florida, USF and Arkansas.

He eliminated Arizona State, Kentucky, Indiana, Louisville, Miami, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Texas, Texas A&M and a slew of others.

Simmons, an Under Armour All-America viewed as one of the top prospects at his position for the 2023 cycle, comes from a strong lineage as the son of a former offensive lineman, Able Simmons, who played at Oklahoma back in the 1990s. While the Sooners did not make his cut, the Cowboys did, potentially because they were one of his first offers in the summer of 2021 before he really exploded.

OSU has nearly a dozen offers out to players in the 2023 cycle at the tackle position but Simmons — one of five top-200 talents among that group — would be a huge grab from an area the staff doesn’t typically recruit with much success. That being said, the 300-pounder would join an already-talented OL class for the Pokes in 2023 that includes Stillwater product JaKobe Sanders and Arizona product Jack Endean.
