The Cowboys made an addition to their 2027 class this week, and Eric Morris and his staff also made a move at a defensive tackle committed to an ACC school.

Markius “MJ” Woods, a 6-foot-3, 305-pound defensive lineman, announced an Oklahoma State offer on Thursday. Out of The Lawrenceville School New Jersey, Woods made a commitment to Boston College on June 19 and also has offers to Missouri, Kansas State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Miami, Ole Miss and others.

Woods is the No. 513 player in the Rivals Industry ranking for the 2027 recruiting class, making him a Top 60 defensive lineman in the cycle. He was initially a member of the 2026 recruiting class, playing at Whitney Young High School in Chicago, before reclassifying.

That Whitney Young squad, nicknamed the Dolphins, went 9-3 with Woods on the defensive and offensive lines last season. Woods finished the year with 54 total tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. Woods also forced four fumbles, recovered one and was credited with a 5-yard touchdown run last season, per MaxPreps.

The Cowboys added an edge rusher to its 2027 class this week when Jayden Vessell (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) pledged his commitment to the Cowboys, but to this point, he’s the only defensive line commit in the class.

As things stand the Cowboys have 11 total commits in their class with four of those guys being defenders.
