Eric Morris and his staff have plucked some 4.4 speed out of smalltown Oklahoma.

Pryor wide receiver Cooper Hooker announced a commitment to Oklahoma State on Thursday. Listed at 5-foot-9, 170 pounds, Hooker picked the Pokes over offers from Texas State, Arkansas State, East Carolina and others.

Hooker will play his senior season at Pryor after starring at Salina. He caught 50 passes for 850 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior while scoring 22 total touchdowns and leading Salina to a 10-2 record and the second round of the 2A-II playoffs. That came after Hooker missed his sophomore year with a leg injury.

His breakout on the recruiting trail seems to have been an Under Armour camp in St. Louis in March. There, he ran a 4.44 40-yard dash and clocked a 4.38 shuttle.

OSU moved quickly. Hooker announced his OSU offer on May 11, set up an official visit on May 13 (the visit is the 29th through 31st) and then pledged to the Pokes all in quick order.

The major recruiting services recently ranked Hooker. Rivals considers him the No. 1,059 player in the 2027 class, a Top 150 receiver in the class and a Top 20 player from the state of Oklahoma. 247Sports tabs him as the No. 180 receiver in the class and a Top 20 player in the state.

Morris has mentioned he likes multisport athletes, which is something that also applies to Hooker. He was a switch-hitting shortstop for Salina as a junior, where he hit .467 with five homers.

Hooker becomes the second pledge in Oklahoma State’s 2027 class, joining quarterback Carson White.
