The Cowboys have secured their first commitment of the 2027 cycle, and it comes at the most important position of the sport.

Quarterback Carson White announced his pledge to Oklahoma State. White is the No. 417 player in the 247Sports Composite ranking for the 2027 class, a ranking that lists him as the No. 28 quarterback in the cycle and the No. 57 player from Texas.

Out of Iowa Colony, which is south of Houston, White picked the Pokes over offers from Baylor, Houston, UCF, Auburn, Texas Tech, SMU and others.

White led the Pioneers to a 12-2 record as a junior and to the quarterfinal round of the Texas 5A-D2 state playoffs. He completed 63% of his 181 pass attempts as a junior, throwing for 1,963 yards and 32 touchdowns to just six interceptions. White also ran for another 678 yards and 15 more scores.

That followed up a sophomore season in which White threw for 1,871 yards and 30 TDs to nine picks while running for 832 yards and 18 scores.

Coach Eric Morris has mentioned how he likes quarterbacks who play different sports. He watched Patrick Mahomes and Cam Ward play basketball and Baker Mayfield and John Mateer play baseball in their recruitment.

Well, White excels on the gridiron, on the diamond and on the track. He has Division-I offers to play baseball, and MileSplit has him credited with a 10.85 100 meters and a 22.44 200 meters already in 2026. He also has a 22-8.5 mark in the long jump. He’s a super athlete of sorts.

This marks the first commitment in Morris’ first full cycle as OSU’s coach after he signed a class days after officially taking the job. Morris has garnered a quarterback guru reputation, so his first full-cycle QB will likely bring an extra amount of excitement to it.

The Cowboys were the last Big 12 school to add a 2027 commit, but White’s standing in the rankings already bumps OSU up to No. 11 in the league in 247Sports’ team rankings — the highest of the one-commit teams.
