Mike Gundy has never been one for social media, but some in the Cowboy fanbase have been upset they haven’t heard from their ole ball coach since his dismissal.
But Gundy is doing some TV work for TNT’s coverage of the Big 12 this weekend. Wearing an orange tie, Gundy was asked how he remembers his time as the Cowboys’ coach.
“We’ve been very fortunate to be there a long time,” Gundy said. “I came there in 1986 as a player, and Oklahoma State was good enough to give me a scholarship to play football and finish there with a degree and nice enough to make me a coach there and then eventually as a head coach.
“So, fondest memories of my life, and just great people, great organization. Stillwater, Oklahoma is a beautiful place. Memories of a lifetime. So, very, very thankful for Oklahoma State. And excited about what they’re doing now. … Excited about Oklahoma State right now and what they’re doing.”

Gundy is unquestionably the greatest coach in OSU’s history, ending his 21-year tenure with a 170-90 record. Gundy won the Big 12 in 2011 and led the Cowboys on an 18-year bowl streak.
Before that, Gundy quarterbacked the Cowboys in the 1980s, finishing his playing career with 8,473 yards (fourth in program history) and 57 passing touchdowns (fifth in program history).
