Four-Star Linebacker Israel Hammons Commits to Oklahoma State
A massive get for Morris and Co.
Eric Morris landed perhaps the biggest recruit of his early Oklahoma State tenure on Friday night.
Four-star, in-state linebacker Israel Hammons announced that he has committed to Oklahoma State. Listed at 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, Hammons is the No. 160 overall player in Rivals’ Industry ranking, which tabs him as a Top 15 linebacker in the class and the No. 6 player from the state of Oklahoma.
The Oklahoma State staff has long been in pursuit of Hammons — before that staff was even in Stillwater.
North Texas was Hammons’ first Division-I offer, coming back in January in 2025. Fast forward a year, and that same staff offered him a scholarship at Oklahoma State — his eighth offer.
That didn’t mean it was a simple recruitment for the Cowboys’ staff, though. Hammons had also garnered offers from Texas, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn, Arizona State, Missouri, Kentucky and others. He even recently took a visit to Austin, but decided he wanted to stay in his home state.
Hammons took his visit to Stillwater in April alongside quarterback commit Carson White.
Hammons plays both ways at Choctaw High School, crushing ballcarriers as a linebacker and thumping defenders with stiff blocks as an H back. He doesn’t look too bad with the ball in his hands, either.
Hammons becomes the Cowboys’ ninth commitment in the 2027 class and the third defensive prospect who has pledged to be a Poke. He joins safeties Bryson Brown (OK) and Chayce Davis (TX) as defenders in the class. Hammons is also the third in-state product to join the fold, joining Brown (Broken Arrow) and receiver Cooper Hooker (Pryor).
