Selection Sunday: Cowgirls Earn a 7 Seed in NCAA Tournament
The Cowgirls will kick off their postseason against Fordham.
Fresh off of a Big 12 title game win over top-ranked Oklahoma, Oklahoma State landed a 7 seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament.
Sunday’s Women’s College Softball Selection show revealed that the No. 6/7 Cowgirls had earned a top eight seed which gives them the chance to host both a regional and super regional this postseason.
The Cowgirls can make their third straight Women’s College World Series without crossing state lines. Seventy-five percent of teams that host a super regional make it to the OKC.
The Stillwater Regional will look like this.
No. 7 OSU vs. Fordham
North Texas vs. Nebraska
The Cowgirls (41-12, 14-4 in Big 12) entered the Big 12 Tournament ranked No. 7 in the RPI metric and then added wins over the Nos. 7, 16 and 1 in the nation in Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma to claim their first Big 12 crown. The Cowgirls have hosted three Super Regionals in 2011, 2019 and 2021.
All business, no huge celebration from the team. Love it.
