OSU Picked Third in Preseason Big 12 Football Poll
The Pokes still got a ton of respect with nine first-place votes.
The Big 12 on Thursday released its preseason football poll with reigning conference champion Baylor edging out Oklahoma and Oklahoma State as the favorite. OU was picked to finish second and OSU, which finished second in the league last season by a hair to Baylor in the Big 12 title game, was picked third.
That’s not to say OSU does not have its believers, though. OSU in fact received nine first-place votes in the poll of 41 total ballots — narrowly behind Baylor’s 17 and OU’s 12. Texas received two first-place votes. Iowa State drew out the final first-place vote, despite being picked to finish sixth.
Ballots were tallied on a points system with differing values given based upon slots in each individual ballot. OSU finished with 342 points just behind Baylor’s 365 and OU’s 354. Kansas got the fewest amount of points with 48.
