Two-Time Atlantic Sun Player of the Year Caroline Hudson Signs with Oklahoma State

There aren’t many better duos in Stillwater than Kenny Gajewski and the transfer portal.

Two-time Atlantic Sun Player of the Year Caroline Hudson signed with Oklahoma State, the school announced Tuesday. A catcher transferring from Liberty, Hudson led the ASUN in RBIs (51) and home runs (15) last season. She has started 206 games across the past four seasons for Liberty where she has 35 career home runs and 135 career RBIs.

“OSU competes at the highest level,” Hudson said in OSU’s release. “I love how it’s a small town feel and everyone gets behind softball. My mom and I were in Stillwater for the Super Regional vs. Oregon this year and loved it.”

Behind Hudson, Liberty eliminated 2 seed UCLA from the NCAA Tournament this past season in Los Angeles. The Flames made it to the Regional final but fell to San Diego State.

She steps in at a good time for OSU after starting catcher Taylor Tuck finished her eligibility this past season.

Hudson comes from a sports family. Her father, John, had a 10-year NFL career as an offensive lineman. Her grandfather, Dick, played six NFL seasons as an offensive lineman and was a Pro Bowl selection in 1965. Her mother, Ginny, was a gymnast at Auburn, and her sister, Celie, played softball at Chattanooga.

Hudson hit .318 last season and was third in the ASUN in slugging percentage at .636 while leading the league in home runs and RBIs. She also tied for the conference lead with 17 doubles and tied for sixth in the ASUN with 27 walks drawn.

“Caroline is going to give us real experience behind home plate along with a power bat that will help our team,” Gajewski said in OSU’s release. “More importantly, she is an amazing person, an amazing teammate we believe she’ll fit right into the Cowgirl Way.”

Hudson is the third Division-I transfer Gajewski has landed from the portal, joining McNeese State’s Jil Poullard, a two-time All-Southland performer, and Mississippi State’s Macy Graf, who hit .291 as a freshman in the SEC this past season.
