WATCH: Christian Encarnacion-Strand Hits Walk-Off Home Run for Cincinnati Reds
CES and the Reds are in the playoff hunt.
Christian Encarnacion-Strand’s midseason callup to The Show seems to have been a fruitful one for the Reds.
A former Oklahoma State baseball player, Encarnacion-Strand hit a walk-off home run in Cincinnati’s 1-0 win over the Twins (the team that drafted him) on Friday night. Encarnacion-Strand’s swing of the bat has the Reds two games back of the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL-Central, and it keeps Cincy in a wild card spot.
Since his callup in July, Encarnacion-Strand is hitting .253 in the bigs with four home runs and 15 RBIs.
CES was an All-American at Oklahoma State before the Twins took him in the fourth round of the 2021 MLB Draft. He hit .361 with 15 home runs and 66 RBIs as a Cowboy in 2021 before hitting .322 with 56 home runs and 194 RBIs in three seasons in the minors.
The Reds last made the playoffs in 2020 and have made only five postseason appearances since 1991, so this is a big deal in Cincinnati.
