PFB Picks: Predictions for Oklahoma State’s Week 9 Matchup against Cincinnati
Picking the score, the MVP and the uniforms.
With Bedlam looming, the Cowboys might be under a trap game watch in their homecoming contest against Cincinnati.
Oklahoma State hosts the Bearcats at 7 p.m. Saturday in Boone Pickens Stadium. Here is how the PFB crew sees the game playing out.
Marshall Scott
Score: Oklahoma State 34, Cincinnati 24
Game MVP: Ollie Gordon
Uniform: Orange (cursive)-Orange-Black
Thoughts: I’m interested to see how OSU attacks the Bearcats’ solid run defense, but it’s hard to bet against Ollie Gordon right now. Should the Bearcats find a way to corral Gordon, someone is going to have to step up on the outside, whether that be Jaden Bray or Rashod Owens.
As for the uniform, I wanted to say black-orange-black, but the Cowboys usually dabble quite a bit of black for Bedlam, so I’ll go more America’s Brightest Orange for America’s Greatest Homecoming.
Kyle Cox
Score: Oklahoma State 35, Cincinnati 17
Game MVP: Ollie Gordon
Uniform: White (something phenomenal)-Orange-White
Thoughts: Ollie is the MVP until someone takes that from him and I think the Cowboys continue to roll. Cincy hasn’t broken 30 points since Week 1 and the Pokes’ scoring output has skyrocketed each of the last two games. But I don’t think OSU will need to hang 50 on Cincinnati.
I am most intrigued by the uniform matchup. OSU has historically gone with a throwback look for homecoming, but the entire kit is a throwback look. I bet we’re in for a treat.
Dekota Gregory
Score: Oklahoma State 37, Cincinnati 20
Game MVP: Ollie Gordon
Uniform: Orange (Throwback Pete) – Orange – White
Thoughts: I have restored confidence in the 2023 Cowboys. And it’s the hope that kills you, so that has me worried. But I wrote earlier this week that OSU tends to thrive in homecoming games with all the alumni in town, and I believe that just continues Saturday night.
The most worrisome part of this matchup is Cincinnati’s exceptional run game. An immovable object meets an unstoppable force. But Ollie Gordon still can’t be, won’t be stopped.
As for uniforms, it’s homecoming and the theme is all about the history of Pistol Pete. America’s greatest mascot has to be on the helmets for this game. And for some reason, I’m feeling an orange helmet.
