OSU Softball: Cowgirls Split Day 1 of Clearwater Invitational, Fall to No. 4 Georgia, Rally against Wisconsin
The Cowgirls split their Friday at the Clearwater Invitational.
The Cowgirls started off a tough weekend with mixed results, splitting their two games on Friday.
No. 6 Oklahoma State fell to No. 4 Georgia 7-4 Friday morning and then rebounded to defeat Wisconsin 9-5 in the afternoon, splitting their first two games of the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational.
Cowgirls Succumb to Bulldogs Rally
After running out to an early 4-0, the Cowgirls nearly got doubled up. OSU scored on a Caroline Wang double in the bottom of the first and then Megan Bloodworth hit a two-run moonshot in the second, followed by an RBI triple by Claire Timm.

The Cowgirls held the Bulldogs scoreless for the first four innings, but it all came apart in the fifth. UGA’s Dallis Goodnight scored on a fielder’s choice to break the seal, and then Lyndi Ray Davis nailed a three-run homer to tie it up. An inning later, the Bulldogs poured on three more to put it away.
Kyra Aycock pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and three runs. Lexi Kilfoyl came in to attempt the save but allowed five hits and four runs.
The Cowgirls took their first loss of the season but had to get over it quick.
Then They Rallied Back
The Cowgirls traded going up 4-0 after two Friday morning for falling behind 3-0 after two in the afternoon, but this time they were the team to rally.
OSU defeated Wisconsin 9-5, climbing out of a 3-0 hole after two innings and being down 5-2 after three. They scored one in the fourth to pull within 5-3 and then scored three runs each in the fifth and seventh innings.
Rosie Davis, Claire Timm and Macy Graf each logged RBIs, and Megan Bloodworth scored Graf on a sac bunt. Graf then scored on a wild pitch in the fifth inning to put OSU up for good.

But credit a strong defensive performance for the Cowgirls rebounding and escaping with the win.

The Cowgirls’ pitching staff held strong to secure the win. Ivy Rosenberry came on in relief and held the Badgers scoreless in three innings before Kilfoyl came back to the circle for a save, pitching scoreless innings in the sixth and seventh.
Next Up
There’s still plenty of qualify softball to play, though originally scheduled times have been adjusted for weather.
The Cowgirls are back in action Saturday at 8 am against No. 12 LSU (the game was pushed forward from 9:30 a.m. due to expected inclement weather). They’ll face No. 22 Northwestern at 3 p.m. (currently remains as originally scheduled) and then Georgia Tech at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
