Tyler Foster is part of Phase 2 in bringing back the tight end to Oklahoma State.

Gone is the Cowboy Back, and back are the tight end and fullback at Boone Pickens Stadium. Last year, the Cowboys brought in transfer Josiah Johnson from Mass for one season to help kickstart the revitalization of the tight end. Now, enter Foster, a transfer from Ohio, to take that next step.

Foster, a 6-foot-6 super senior, was listed as OSU’s starting tight end on the first two-deep depth chart of the year. Even before the season kicked off, he had 39 games of experience under his belt after five years at Ohio. He has 31 catches, 377 receiving yards and three touchdown catches in his career. All of his TDs came in 2022, during which he started nine games.

After not recording any stats Week 1, Foster caught his first pass as a Cowboy in the first drive of the second half against Arkansas.

“Best fit out of the portal, I think — instantly,” Foster said of OSU. “I loved everybody here from talking with them on the phone and meeting the guys on my visit, I think it was just the right fit for me as far as football, school and what I’m trying to accomplish after this stage of my life. I think this is the best place.”
