Injury Report: Springfield Remains Out as Cowboys Open Big 12 Play against Utah
Springfield brought 40 career starts into this season.
The Cowboys will again be without starting right tackle Jake Springfield as the Pokes host the Utes in their Big 12 opener.
Springfield also missed the Cowboys’ 45-10 win against Tulsa last weekend. The Cowboys will also be without Collin Oliver and Justin Wright. All of this is according to Dave Hunziker.
Springfield carried 40 career starts into this season. Hunziker said his injury is being evaluated week to week. In Springfield’s place, the Cowboys will play Arizona State transfer Isaia Glass. Before Springfield’s injury, Glass was splitting time at left tackle with Dalton Cooper. In 67 snaps at right tackle last weekend, Glass graded out at a 65.3, according to Pro Football Focus. Glass allowed one pressure, per PFF, in 40 pass-blocking snaps.
The biggest injury angle in this game, though, includes the status of Utah quarterback Cam Rising. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Saturday morning that Rising would be a game-time decision. As of writing, Rising is doing some light warmups while wearing a glove on his throwing hand.
Oklahoma State and Utah will kick at 3 p.m. in Boone Pickens Stadium. The game will be televised on FOX.
