Mike Gundy Issues Apology for Controversial Monday Tangent
‘My intent was not to offend any of our fans who have supported us and this program through the years.’
Mike Gundy on Tuesday night issued an apology for a tangent he went on Monday during his weekly news conference.
In the midst of Oklahoma State’s 0-6 start to Big 12 play, Gundy was asked about whether his time as an assistant has helped prepare him for the ups and downs of a season. He noted that he coached 11 years before winning more than five games in a season but went on to speak for a few minutes. In that, he said that, “In most cases, the people that are negative and voicing their opinion are the same ones that can’t pay their own bills,” among other things.
Gundy took to X on Tuesday night to apologize and say he didn’t intend to offend OSU’s fans.
“I apologize to those who my comments during Monday’s media call offended,” Gundy wrote on X. “My intent was not to offend any of our fans who have supported us and this program through the years.”
Gundy’s Cowboys travel to Fort Worth this weekend to play TCU. The game kicks at 6 p.m. Saturday and will be televised on FS1.
