Oklahoma State’s David Taylor era already started with a win, but the Cowboys are looking to make it two in one weekend.

After beating Utah Valley 38-6 on Friday night, the Pokes’ road trip continues to Oregon State. Taylor will coach in a ranked matchup for the first time in his career between his No. 3 Cowboys and the No. 24 Beavers, who are coached by former OSU wrestler Chris Pendleton.

Here’s everything you need to know about OSU’s matchup against another OSU.

Three Storylines

Match to Watch: The only match in this dual that a Cowboy will be the underdog is at 197 pounds, where No. 19 Luke Surber will get No. 9 Trey Munoz. Surber battled injury after injury last season but looked healthy again Friday night, as he was able to score and move freely for the first time in a year. Munoz will be Surber’s first real test to see what he’s really made of when healthy.

Former Cowboy: The Beavers are led by former Cowboy Chris Pendleton, who won a pair of individual NCAA titles with the Cowboys. He was named Oregon State’s head coach ahead of the 2020-21 season and is 0-3 against his alma-mater since.

Uncertainty at 141 Pounds: True freshman Kolter Burton got the nod at 141 pounds Friday over last season’s starter Tagen Jamison. Burton lost his dual debut against a top-25 opponent and will surely improve, but Jamison was an NCAA qualifier last season as a redshirt freshman. It shouldn’t be an overpowering matchup for either guy Sunday, but it will be worth watching if Taylor has enough faith to give Burton another chance or goes with Jamison.
