The Cowboys have had a ton of success recruiting players from Utah over the years, and now they are set to have a coach from the Beehive State.

DJ Tialavea is set to coach Oklahoma State’s tight ends, according to Robert Allen. Tialavea comes to the program after coaching tight ends at Utah State since 2021. He was on the Aggies staff as a graduate assistant the year before that and played for Utah State from 2010 to 2013.

Jason McEndoo had coached the Cowboy tight ends/Cowboy backs since 2015.

Tialavea had a successful career as a player with the Aggies, catching 30 passes for 198 yards and five touchdowns in his final three seasons with the program. He was a three-year captain for the Aggies. From there, he had stints on rosters with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons and Chicago Bears.

Tialavea’s coaching career started in 2016 as a graduate assistant at Oregon State before making his way back to his alma mater in 2020.

Along with getting a new tight ends coach, the Cowboys also got a new tight end Saturday, as Central Arkansas transfer Jordan Owens committed to the Pokes.

Tialavea joins new offensive coordinator Doug Meacham‘s staff. A report also came out Saturday that OSU is set to hire Kevin Johns as the Cowboys’ quarterbacks coach.
