TRANSFER PORTAL TRACKER

Ahead of the spring semester getting ready to start, the Cowboys’ staff has been busy and earned a second commitment from the portal on Monday.

Jaylin Davies, listed as a 6-foot, 180-pound redshirt junior corner at UCLA this past season, announced his commitment to Oklahoma State. In four seasons of college football (one at Oregon and the past three at UCLA), Davies has recorded 108 tackles, two tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, four interceptions, 11 pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Davies’ commitment comes after he took at visit to Stillwater this past weekend.

Out of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Davies played high school ball at the heralded Mater Dei High School. He was a four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class, listed as the No. 152 player in the country in 247Sports’ Composite ranking. An Under Armor All-American, Davies initially picked Oregon over offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, USC, Florida State and others.

He played in two games as a freshman for the Ducks in 2021, making three tackles in Oregon’s Alamo Bowl loss to Oklahoma. He transferred to UCLA ahead of the 2022 season before playing in all 13 of the Bruins’ games. He earned starts in the final four games. That redshirt freshman season saw Davies total 32 tackles and intercept three passes (one of which he returned for a touchdown).

Davies started a dozen of the Bruins’ 13 games in 2023, making a career-high 43 total tackles to go with a tackle for loss, an interception and a career-high six PBUs. He played in all 12 of UCLA’s games this past season, making eight starts. In 2024, he had 30 tackles, a tackle for loss and two pass breakups.

Out of the portal, Davies also announced offers from Nebraska, Northwestern and Mississippi State.

The Cowboys have seemingly made it a priority to reload with experience at defensive back heading into 2025. Davies becomes the sixth DB to transfer to Stillwater, joining two traditional portal transfers and three players from the junior college ranks: JK Johnson (LSU), Mordecai McDaniel, Chase Pinkston (Jones), Carrington Pierce (Chaffey) and Jeremy Cook (East Mississippi).

Davies is also the second player the Cowboys have gotten from UCLA over the past few days, as defensive lineman Sitiveni Havili-Kaufusi also reportedly pledge to the Pokes this weekend. Davies is OSU’s second commitment of Monday, joining Nebraska wide receiver transfer Jaylen Lloyd.
