Report: OSU Linebacker Gabe Brown Enters Transfer Portal

Another Cowboy linebacker has reportedly hit the portal.

Gabe Brown, a Stillwater native listed as a 6-foot-2, 235-pound redshirt sophomore this past season, is in the portal as a graduate transfer, according to 247Sports’ McClain Baxley. Across the past three seasons in Stillwater, Brown played in 21 games, recording seven tackles and a tackle for loss.

“After much thought and consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal,” Brown shared on X. “I would like to thank Oklahoma State University, my teammates, coaches, and the staff for their help and guidance along the way. With that being say, I’m excited and looking forward to the next step and chapter in my life and football career.”

Brown was a three-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class coming out of Stillwater High School. He chose Oklahoma State over offers from Baylor, Texas Tech, Air Force, Army, Navy and others. The Oklahoman named Brown an All-State selection twice.

He redshirted in 2022, playing in the Arkansas-Pine Bluff game before playing in 11 games as a redshirt freshman in 2023. That 2023 season saw Brown record three tackles. He played in nine games this past season where he recorded a quartet of tackles, including a tackle for loss against Arkansas.

Brown joins fellow linebacker Jeff Roberson as late additions to the portal from Oklahoma State, eligible to enter the portal outside of the window because of their grad status. Roberson has since committed to Minnesota. Kendal Daniels, who played linebacker and safety for the Cowboys, also hit the portal, committing to Oklahoma.

OSU has added a trio of linebackers by way of the portal: Bryan McCoy (Akron), Brandon Rawls (Saginaw Valley State) and most recently Trip White (Ole Miss).
