OSU Softball: Cowgirls Picked 1st in Preseason Big 12 Poll

The Cowgirls haven’t won a regular season conference title since 1995, but entering the 2025 season, that’s expected to change.

The Big 12 released its preseason poll on Friday, which featured Oklahoma State atop the standings and receiving nine of a possible 10 (coaches can’t vote for their own team) first-place votes. The Cowgirls also had six of the 18 players on the league’s Preseason All-Big 12 team in RyLee Crandall (Baylor transfer), Megan Delgadillo (Cal State-Fullerton transfer), Tallen Edwards, Karli Godwin, Ruby Meylan (Washington transfer) and Claire Timm.

The Cowgirls have been in the top five of two preseason national rankings. D1Softball pinned OSU as the No. 5 team in the country entering the season, and USA Softball had OSU at No. 4. D1 Softball also named Godwin, Meylan and Delgadillo preseason All-Americans.

OSU last won a regular season conference crown in 1995 when Sandy Fischer led the Cowgirls. Under Fischer, OSU won nine Big Eight regular season titles to go with six conference tournament wins. Kenny Gajewski led OSU to a Big 12 Tournament title in 2022.

OSU starts its season Feb. 6 with a game against No. 8 Florida State at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Mexico. The month of February alone will see OSU play the No. 8 Seminoles (twice), No. 4 UCLA, No. 7 Texas A&M, No. 11 Alabama, No. 14 Nebraska and No. 15 Missouri.
