In just his fourth season in the NBA, Cade Cunningham is an All-Star.

The NBA announced its All-Stars on Thursday, where Cunningham was the first former Cowboy to get the nod since John Starks in 1994. Injuries dictated some of Cunningham’s first three seasons in the Association, but he’s played in 43 of the Detroit Pistons’ 47 games this season, where Cunningham averages career highs in points (25), rebounds (6.4) and assists (9.3).

To celebrate Cunningham being an All-Star, the Pistons put up this 3.5-minute video of Cunningham dunking on everybody:

Cunningham has scored 30+ points in 11 games this season, including dropping a season-high 40 on Minnesota earlier this month. Along with his career-high averages in the major statistics, Cunningham is also shooting a career-best 45.4% from the field and 36% from 3.

His 9.3 assists per game is third in the NBA, and he has tallied seven triple-doubles this season, the fourth-most in the league.

The Pistons are 23-24 this season, sitting at eighth in the Eastern Conference. The 23 wins have already tied the most Detroit has had in a season in Cunningham’s four seasons.

Cunningham is Detroit’s first All-Star since Blake Griffin during the 2018-19 season.

Oklahoma State had Cunningham for one season (2020-21), where he led the Pokes to the NCAA Tournament’s Second Round and was a consensus All-American, the national freshman of the year and the Big 12 Player of the Year. He averaged 20.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists a game in orange and black. The Pistons took Cunningham with the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

For the portion of the OSU fanbase who also roots for the Oklahoma City Thunder, OKC had two All-Stars in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams.

The NBA All-Star game tips at 7 p.m. Feb. 16 in San Francisco. The game will air on TNT.
