OSU Softball: Cowgirls Beat North Texas 10-2
Karli Godwin had two of the Cowgirls’ three home runs against the Mean Green. Katie Kutz logged a career-high seven Ks.
The Cowgirls will head into Big 12 play off a big win in Denton.
No. 13 Oklahoma State beat North Texas 10-2 in seven merciless innings for the Mean Green thanks in large part to a big night from some touted Cowgirl underclassmen.
The future looks bright, but so does the present. The Cowgirls enter Big 12 play on an 11-game win streak.
As if he had a crystal ball, Marshall highlighted the Cowgirls’ stellar sophomore class earlier Wednesday. The four highlighted members of OSU’s 2023 recruiting class just so happened to be the Cowgirls’ stars in Denton.
Karli Godwin went 3-for-5 with two of OSU’s three home runs and three runs batted in. Fellow sophomore Rosie Davis went 1-for-4, but she had the other homer and three RBIs herself. Tia Warsop was 1-for-4 with two RBIs. The final of the four mentioned in the story, Katie Kutz, set a new career-high with seven strikeouts.
Davis’ home run got things going, putting the Cowgirls up 2-0 in the first. The Mean Green answered in the bottom of the second, with a pair of unearned runs on a fielding error credited to Warsop. (She got to make up for it soon thereafter.)
Godwin then kicked off a four-run third inning with a solo home run.

Warsop smacked a two-run double that pushed the lead to 5-2 before Megan Bloodworth scored Warsop with a sac bunt to make it 6-2.

The Cowgirls piled on two more in the seventh thanks to fielding error that scored Bloodworth and then another unearned run by Megan Delgadillo off a Rosie Davis ground-out.
But the Cowgirls’ young stars did more than show out on offense.
Davis and Godwin logged a 5-4-3 double play that was initiated by a nice play by Tallen Edwards.

Kutz started and moved to 7-1 on the year, allowing two runs and five walks but striking out those seven in five innings of work.

Ruby Meylan pitched the final two innings, allowing no runs on no hits while walking one and striking out three.
The win pushes the Cowgirls to 15-4 on the season. Next up, they break the seal on Big 12 play with a three-game series at Texas Tech this weekend. The Cowgirls and Red Raiders get started at 6 p.m. on Friday in Lubbock.
