Breaking Down Oklahoma State’s 2027 Recruiting Class So Far

The Cowboys ended a bit of a drought this week when they picked up a pledge from Louisiana edge rusher Jayden Vessell.

With the calendar about to flip to August, I thought it a good time to do a bit of a refresher on the Cowboys’ 2027 class to this point before football starts going. Here’s a quick look at all 11 guys committed to be Cowboys.

Israel Hammons

Position: Linebacker
High School: Choctaw (Oklahoma)
Height: 6-foot-3
Weight: 230 pounds

Highlights:

All of the recruiting services consider Hammons the top guy in the Cowboys’ class, and it’s easy to see why with his blend of size and physicality. North Texas (under Eric Morris) was actually Hammons’ first college offer, coming in January of 2025, but by the time he committed to the Cowboys, there was plenty of competition with the likes of Texas, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn, Missouri and others also after Hammons’ services.

Carson White

Position: Quarterback
High School: Hightower (Texas)
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 205 pounds

Highlights:

The Cowboys survived a late push from Georgia to keep White in the class a few months ago, and now we’ll see if there are any other major programs that try to swoop him away in the dash to signing day. White is a multisport prospect, also excelling on the baseball diamond. After throwing for 1,963 yards and 32 touchdowns last season at Iowa Colony High School, White is making the move to Hightower for his senior season, where his father will be the offensive coordinator.

TJ Lewis

Position: Running Back
High School: Bolingbrook (IL)
Height: 6-foot
Weight: 225 pounds

Highlights:

With those measurables, size shouldn’t be an issue for Lewis at the next level. He was a First Team All-State selection as a junior, finishing with 1,808 all-purpose yards and 22 touchdowns.

Chayce Davis

Position: Safety
High School: Euless Trinity (TX)
Height: 6-foot
Weight: 173 pounds

Highlights:

From the same high school that produced Ollie Gordon, Davis brings track athleticism with him to Stillwater, as he has recorded a 10.59 100-meter dash to go with a 6-foot-6 high jump.

Talan Scott

Position: Tight End
High School: American Leadership Academy (AZ)
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 225 pounds

Highlights:

Scott stars on both sides of the ball in Arizona. As a tight end, he caught 45 passes for 468 yards and eight touchdowns as a junior, and as an outside linebacker, he made 44 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. He chose the Cowboys over offers from SMU, Stanford, Utah, Auburn and others.

Sonny Mullen

Position: Offensive Line
High School: Troy (TX)
Height: 6-foot-7

Highlights:

Mullen certainly has the frame to develop into a quality Power Five lineman. He chose OSU over offers from Houston, TCU, Baylor, Kansas State and others.

Ake O’Neal

Position: Wide Receiver
High School: Argyle (TX)
Height: 6-foot-3
Weight: 195 pounds

Highlights:

O’Neal has a nice blend of size and speed at 6-foot-3 with a 11.4 100-meter dash. O’Neal chose OSU over Utah, Duke, Texas Tech, Wisconsin and others.

Jake Baker

Position: Offensive Line
High School: Ensworth (TN)
Height: 6-foot-6
Weight: 290 pounds

Highlights:

Baker is a relatively under-the-radar guy. He committed to OSU in June over offers from Tulsa, Memphis, East Carolina, UConn and others.

Cooper Hooker

Highlights:

A smalltown, undersized receiver is someone after Morris’ own heart. Hooker is moving up divisions for his senior season of high school ball, going from 2A Salina up to 5A Pryor. He caught 50 passes for 850 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior.

Bryson Brown

Position: Defensive Back
High School: Broken Arrow (OK)
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 190 pounds

Highlights:

The Cowboys new staff didn’t waste time pursuing Bryson Brown. Brown had offers to Miami, Ohio State, Penn State, OU and others, so he could make a big impact in Stillwater. He also brings the speed element with a 10.9 100 meters.

Jayden Vessell

Position: Edge Rusher
High School: Baton Rouge Catholic (LA)
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 230 pounds

Highlights:

The latest pledge, Vessell made his commitment to OSU on Wednesday. Although he’s unranked by a few of the major recruiting services, that will likely be amended within the next few weeks.
