OSU Softball: Cowgirls Pay Red Raiders Back, Take Series Finale by Run-Rule 10-1
The Cowgirls got some payback.
The Cowgirls went 0-2 to the Red Raiders in a doubleheader on Friday, being outscored 11-0 including a five-inning run-rule decision. Then, after a day off, they got some payback.
No. 15/13 Oklahoma State defeated No. 16/15 Texas Tech 10-1 in five innings on Sunday in OSU’s Big 12 opening series finale.
It was a duel of elite pitchers and, this time, OSU’s ace came out on top.
After getting all they could handle from reigning USA Softball Player of the Year NiJaree Canady on Friday, the Cowgirls gave her all she could take on Sunday. Canady got the start but lasted only two innings before giving up five runs. She fell to 8-3 on the season.
Karli Godwin started things off with an RBI single to score OSU’s leadoff Megan Delgadillo. Then things got out of hand quickly on one play.
Tia Warsop (2-for-3) bunted but a Tech throwing error at first allowed for that bunt to score three.

Then Rosie Davis (1-for-1) added another score in the second to make it 5-0.

After those five runs, Tech went with Samantha Lincoln to start the third. She lasted two and two-thirds, giving up five runs of her own.
Amanda Hasler (2-for-2) sent Warsop across home plate with an RBI single in the third. Tech scored its solo run on a Alexa Langeliers home run in the fourth, but any glint of momentum was quickly extinguished with a five-run walk-off fifth by OSU.
Hasler went yard for the fourth time this year. It was a two-run dinger that pushed the lead to 8-1.

Then Godwin scored two more with a two-RBI single to make the mercy rule an option. The Cowgirls just needed one more stop.
We’ll take ✌️ more

Speaking of stops, Ruby Meylan continued to etch her name into OSU lore.
The Cowgirls’ ace transfer moved to 5-1, pitching all five innings and allowing just that single run. She logged seven strikeouts for the second-straight game.
