Daily Bullets (Apr. 1): Loads of Cowboy Wrestling Activity
Thanks for stopping by – here’s your daily dose of Oklahoma State sports news.
OSU Bullets
• Cowboy heavyweight Wyatt Hendrickson won the Hodge Trophy yesterday (think the Heisman of college wrestling) – he’s the third Cowboy to bring it home (PFB)
• Three (more) updates from Cowboy Wrestling:
– A Penn State wrestler announced he’s transferring to OSU, he should figure in around 165 pounds (PFB)
– …And another Penn State wrestler announced he’s transferring to OSU yesterday – this guy will figure into the lighter weights (PFB)
– On Thursday night, OSU is doing a ceremony for the Hodge winner and others on campus (OKState.com)
• These quotes from Cowboy head coach Steve Lutz show how wild of a job it is to rebuild a roster in today’s college basketball.
Lutz said more than 550 players were in the portal the first day it opened.
“It’s just crazy, guys,” he said. “You don’t understand how out of control the transfer portal is and the agents are and the amounts of money that are being asked for right now. We’ve got to fix this somehow in college basketball. But that being said, we’re going to embrace it.
“I’m not against the portal. But we’ve got to figure out something and try to continue to make this game great.”
• OSU reportedly showing interest in a lower-tier running back in the transfer portal – 247’s McClain Baxley pointed out ($$$) this could be similar to last year’s situation with AJ Green (PFB + 247 Sports $$$)
• It will be impossible getting tickets to this on gameday weekends this fall will be impossible, right?

• Solid move here – meteorologist proposes to his girlfriend on air (changed the greenscreen first)
• Being a better conversationalist
This is amazing – and it obviously doesn’t work from year-to-year, but KenPom nailed the Final Four:
Pomeroy absolutely nailed it. After nearly 6,271 college basketball games this season, his numbers didn’t just have Duke, Houston, Florida and Auburn as the four best teams in the country; it had those teams ahead of the pack by a wide margin.
In fact, since the beginning of his data in 1997, just 10 teams have had a total Net Rating of +35 or more in his formula. Three of them won the championship, two lost in the championship game, one in the semifinals.
