Penn State Transfer Gary Steen Commits to Oklahoma State

But wait, there’s more.

Not long after Penn State transfer Alex Facundo announced his commitment to Oklahoma State, fellow Penn State transfer Gary Steen did the same.

Steen went 3-3 for the Nittany Lions at 133 pounds this past season, his first at the weight after spending the previous two years at 125 pounds.

Out of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, Steen was a two-time PIAA state champ in high school. Intermat considered him the No. 55 prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. While redshirting during the 2021-22 season, Steen went 5-5 in open tournaments.

Steen broke into Penn State’s starting lineup for the bulk of the 2022-23 season, going 6-15. He went 6-3 as a redshirt sophomore in 2023-24. He competed in one dual that year, dropping the bout to Lehigh’s Shelton Seymour 6-3. Seymour was an All-American in 2025.

The second transfer commit of the day for the Cowboys, Steen is the third transfer overall the Cowboys have brought in in the early parts of this offseason. Casey Swiderski (Iowa State) joins Steen and Facundo as transfer pledges.

Reece Witcraft started for the Cowboys at 133 pounds this season, but it was his final year of eligibility. Other guys who should compete for that opening include Cael Hughes, Rin Sakamoto and JJ McComas. The Cowboys have reigning national runner-up Troy Spratley manning the 125-pound spot.
