TRANSFER PORTAL TRACKER

The Cowboys are bringing in a young, blue-chip safety from the Sunshine State.

Zaquan Patterson is transferring to Oklahoma State from Miami, according to multiple reports. Patterson was a top 100 player in the 2024 recruiting class before playing in all 13 of the Hurricanes’ games as a true freshman last season where he recorded 19 tackles and a trio of pass breakups. He should have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Rivals marked Patterson as the No. 36 player in the 2024 recruiting class and the No. 3 safety in the cycle. He stayed close to home (Hollywood, Florida) by picking Miami over reported offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Florida State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M and others — not a bad list. He intercepted seven passes as a high school senior at Chaminade-Madonna and left high school with three state titles.

Patterson saw action regularly as a true freshman and made his first career start in the Hurricanes’ Pop-Tarts Bowl matchup against Iowa State, where he made a season-high five tackles.

The Cowboys have acquired a big haul of defensive backs this offseason via the transfer portal, with Patterson joining the likes of JK Johnson (LSU), Jaylin Davies (UCLA), DeAndre Boykins (North Carolina), Mordecai McDaniel (Charlotte) and others.

Patterson is OSU’s second portal pickup of Thursday, joining Nebraska transfer offensive lineman Grant Seagren.
