Three Thoughts

โ€ข I agree and disagree with these comments about OSU’s quarterback battle:

At this point, I don’t think (Hauss) Hejny is the starting quarterback. My gut says (Zane) Flores will be the first starter, given the experience at Oklahoma State. However, I do expect the two quarterbacks to get similar playing time in the first three non conference games, especially the games against UT Martin and Oregon. [GoPokes 247]

What’s more of an advantage – being at the same school as the current offensive coordinator (Hjeny at TCU with Doug Meacham) or continuity with a severely influx roster (Zane Flores at OSU)?ย  The arguments are equally strong, and it’s not irrational to guess Flores. I do agree though that both will see plenty of action in the first couple of games and given every chance to win the job.

โ€ข Not specific/restricted to OSU, but last night the monumental news that paying college athletes directly was approveddetails here (CBS Sports)

โ€ข College basketball analysts are predicting an uptick for Cowboy Basketball this winter, but it depends on some risks playing out well:

Oklahoma State will be better. A top-60 finish onย kenpom.comย isn’t unrealistic after barely sneaking back into the top-100 when 2024-25 concluded. There’s just some combustibility with this core. Roy’s off-court shenanigans are well-documented. Clary was dismissed atย Penn Stateย and barely played at Mississippi State. Can Lutz keep that at bay?

Two Quotes

โ€ข Previewing the Cowboy Football nonconference schedule, looking at the only previous meeting against Oregon pulled a wild stat:

Dez Bryant logged a career-high 13 catches for 167 yards. Both marks broke Holiday Bowl records, the latter edging out another Cowboy, Hart Lee Dykes, who had 163 receiving yards in the 1988 version. [PFB]

โ€ข Encouragement for OSU fans who are also Thunder fans:ย

One Question

โ€ข If OSU could secure a player like NiJaree Kennedy in any sport, who would you want it to be?

Non-OSU Bullets

โ€ข I don’t hate these “type C” parent concepts โ€ข Fighting the seduction of self-reliance (faith-based)
