Jalen Montonati, Oklahoma’s Top Prospect, Set to Take Official Visit to OSU in October
Jalen is the son of former Cowboy Brian Montonati.
Jalen Montonati is an Oklahoma State legacy, but more importantly, he’s a dang good basketball player.
Montonati, the son of former OSU forward Brian Montonati, has scheduled official visits to the two major in-state schools, according to Sam Kayser. He’s set to be in Stillwater on Oct. 18 — the week of the Cincinnati football game. He’ll head to Norman the weekend of Sept. 6. Montonati has already taken an official visit to Kansas State.
This will be far from Montonati’s first time on campus, as he’s been many times on an unofficial basis. OSU was Montonati’s first offer, coming all the way back in Sept. of 2022 (Montonati’s freshman year of high school) while the Pokes were coached by Mike Boynton.
Ranked as highly as the No. 23 player in the entire 2026 class, Montonati is the state’s consensus top prospect, according to the major recruiting services. Along with offers to the three schools mentioned above, he’s has heralded offers from Kansas, Houston, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Michigan, USC and others.
Listed at 6-foot-7, Montonati is a smooth-shooting wing. Playing with MoKan Elite on Nike’s EYBL circuit, Montonati averaged 15.8 points, two rebounds and 2.8 assists a game at Peach Jam earlier this month while shooting 38% from 3.
He led Owasso to its first state championships as a sophomore in 2024, scoring 34 points in the state finals to do so.
Brian Montonati coaches the Rams. He played in Stillwater under Eddie Sutton from 1997 to 2000, averaging 12.1 points and 7.2 rebounds as a senior before playing professionally overseas.
Jalen also won gold at the 2023 FIBA Americas U16 Championships with USA Basketball and has taken part in many Junior National Team camps since. At that 2023 U16 event, he shot 41% from 3.
OSU coach Steve Lutz and his staff have set up many officials for the fall with prospects like four-star guard Cameron Lomax, four-star guard Neiko Mundey and four-star forward Chase Foster, but that weekend in October will have a lot of eyes on it from hopeful fans wearing orange and black.
