PHOTOS: Cowgirl Soccer Opens School Year with Win against Mercer

The Oklahoma State school year got started off with a W on Thursday night at Neal Patterson Stadium.

The Cowgirl soccer team defeated Mercer 2-0 to start their season.

No. 22 OSU had 26 shots to Mercer’s eight and 11 corner kicks to Mercer’s two, but the Cowgirls didn’t get on the board until an 81st-minute corner kick. After Xcaret Pineda sent the ball into the box, Jazmin Brown headed it down for Reganne Morris to pop a looping header over the Mercer goalkeeper.

The Cowgirls scored on another corner kick in the 89th minute, but instead of a three-Cowgirl operation, Pineda curved the corner up and over the keeper in what is an extremely early entry for goal of the season.
