Brennan Presley Turns in Another Outstanding Preseason Performance, Now We Wait
Presley leads the NFL in explosive receptions.
Leaving it all out on the field might be an overused sports cliche, but it really doesn’t feel like there is much more Brennan Presley could’ve done to impress the Rams’ brass this preseason.
Oklahoma State’s all-time leader in receptions was again the Rams’ leading receiver in the team’s preseason finale, with Presley catching three passes on three targets for 51 yards. He was also LA’s second-leading rusher on Saturday, carrying three times for 23 yards.
The Rams fell to Cleveland 19-17.
After going undrafted before signing with the Rams, Presley finishes the preseason with 11 catches for 164 yards and a touchdown, which leads the Rams or ties for the team lead in all categories.
Presley had five “explosive receptions” during the preseason, which means catches of 16 or more yards. That leads all NFL receivers this preseason, according to TruMedia.
Presley’s first time getting the ball on offense came on a rushing attempt, as he scampered 18 yards down the field.
He caught a 21-yard pass up the sideline on LA’s first series coming out of halftime. Presley caught the ball while backpedaling, coolly tapping both feet in the field of play before being taken out of bounds. He had a 24-yard catch and a 6-yard catch on the Rams’ next drive, as well.
Certainly no one in Stillwater is surprised with what Presley has done with his NFL opportunity. To be the all-time leading receiver in a program that has produced three Biletnikoff trophies — as many as any other college program — you have to be a good receiver.
NFL rosters have to be cut to 53 by 3 p.m. (Central) on Tuesday, so Presley won’t have to wait long to learn his fate. At the very least, Presley has surely done enough this preseason to be paid to play football this year, whether that be on the Rams’ roster, the Rams’ practice squad or somewhere else in the NFL.
