Oklahoma State Wrestling Commit Jax Forrest Wins U23 World Gold
Forrest wins gold and clinches the team title for the Americans.
Jax Forrest is a world champion.
Forrest won a barnburner at 61 kg (about 134 pounds) against Kyrgyzstan’s Omurek Asan Uulu in the final on Monday in Serbia, with the Oklahoma State commit winning 17-14. That bout came after both Forrest and Asan Uulu each teched their way to Monday’s final.

The win also clinched the team title for Team USA.
Forrest’s age-level gold puts an end to what’s been an incredible freestyle season for the 19 year old.
It started when he won the senior-level U.S. Open. Forrest was initially going to compete in the U20 bracket before bumping up to wrestle grown men late in the process … and he won.
That secured a spot for Forrest at Final X, where he took on 2023 World Champion and two-time NCAA champion Vito Arujau in a best-of-three series. Forrest beat Arujau two matches to none, securing his spot on the United States’ Senior World Team.
Forrest competed with the best wrestlers in the world in mid-September in Zagreb, Croatia. He ended up being a singlet pull shy of earning a bronze medal despite having not yet started his senior year of high school.
Oh, and Forrest won senior-level gold at the Pan-American Championships in May, beating his opponents a combined 31-0.
Forrest is a part of a star-studded 2026 recruiting class for David Taylor that features four of the top six wrestlers on Flo’s big board for the class: No. 2 Forrest, No. 4 Dreshaun Ross, No. 5 Jadyn Raney and No. 6 Jayden Raney.
