Recap: Cowboys Suffer First Loss of Season in Bedlam
OSU falls to 9-1.
OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma State senior Christian Coleman delivered back-to-back dunks to give the Cowboys their first lead of the second half with 12 minutes to play then added 7 points late when the Cowboys used a 15-9 run to get back into the game with five minutes to play.
Oklahoma State coach Steve Lutz proved how much of a difference one year can make, both on the court and in the crowd, in his second Bedlam showdown, but OSU was unable to close the gap late and lost 85-76 to the Sooners.
Last December, the Sooners took a 17-point lead into the second half and cruised from there. On Saturday, the Cowboys refused to go away, cutting the deficit to only 3 points with as little as 1:37 left on the clock.
Four Cowboys finished in double figures with Kanye Clary (18) leading the way with a team-high in points. Coleman (17 points) finished second, followed by Anthony Roy (16 points) and Vyctorius Miller (13 points).
Xzayvier Brown paced the Sooners with 21 points followed closely by teammate Nijel Pack (18).
Parsa Fallah, the Cowboys minutes leader entering Saturday’s game, played 10 minutes before subbing out with what appeared to be a back injury of some kind.
This is Oklahoma State’s first loss of the season and snaps their winning streak at nine.
The Cowboys return to the court on Thursday at home against Kansas City and wrap up the nonconference season with three teams ranked near the bottom of the NET ranks setting up OSU for what should be a nice reset ahead of a Jan. 3 trip to No. 16 Texas Tech.
