The Cowboys will get another shot to recruit Grant Seagren.

Seagren entered the portal during the season but kept playing for the Pokes. He’s currently considered the No. 2 rated offensive tackle in the portal. Now he’s scheduled visits with Auburn, Northwestern, Arkansas and… Oklahoma State.

It might seem strange, but the scenario is a result of a mid-season head coaching change and the new landscape of college sports.

The former Nebraska transfer came to Stillwater ahead of the 2025 and made an immediate impact. He jumped into the transfer portal as soon as he had the opportunity — thanks to Mike Gundy’s firing — but elected to remain in the locker room and on the field.

“I love this place. I love the people, and they’ve poured a lot into me,” Seagren said. “Just coming in in the summer and the start of the season, I still play for those people every day. Some of the guys, this is it for them. They deserve the best out of me just as much as I deserve the best out of them. It’s just kind of a reciprocating thing. It’s all about just giving back to those people that give to you.”

The 6-foot-6, 255-pound high school tight end walked on for the Cornhuskers, but ended up playing seven games in 2024. By the time he got to Stillwater, he was up to 311 pounds. His number got called due to an injury ahead of the Oregon game and he answered it. He ended up playing 11 games for the Cowboys and finished third in offensive snaps behind only fellow O-linemen Bob Schick and Nuku Mafi.

Seagren has seen the campus, now he can get to know the new system. You have to think Eric Morris and staff have at least a leg up on the competition with the familiarity and “love” Seagren has for OSU. Now it will come down to if they can sell him on the new direction they want to take OSU.
