Billy Walton III first committed to the Cowboys back in April 2022, but now it seems he’ll finally make it to Stillwater.

Walton again committed to Oklahoma State after a visit on Thursday, with On3 reporting he committed even before the visit.

He was a member of the 2023 recruiting class and was committed to OSU for a couple of months before Texas swooped in an signed him. He spent one season with the Longhorns before transferring to SMU, where he’s been the past two seasons. He should have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Listed at 6-foot-3, 250 pounds, Walton played in 13 games for the Mustangs as a redshirt sophomore in 2025, where he recorded six tackles and two sacks. He played in nine of SMU’s games as a redshirt freshman in 2024, finishing the year with 11 tackles. Walton played in two games as a true freshman at Texas in 2023.

On3 considers Walton the No. 611 player in the portal and the No. 45 edge rusher available.

Coming out of South Oak Cliff, he was the No. 507 player in the 2023 high school class. Along with OSU and Texas, Walton had offers to Texas A&M, Tennessee, Nebraska, Texas Tech, Arizona, Kansas State and others.

Walton becomes the fourth defensive lineman the Pokes have added from the portal since it opened Friday, joining Keviyan Huddleston (North Texas), Fatafehi Vailea II (North Texas) and Jerry Lawson (Louisville) as defensive linemen who the Cowboys have picked up.
