Out of Keller, Texas, Keltner was SMU’s primary kicker as a redshirt freshman this past season. He was 14-for-20 on field-goal attempts and a perfect 8-for-8 from inside 40 yards. He had a long of 51 and was 36-for-38 on extra points.
Keltner also acted as the Mustangs’ primary kickoff specialist, kicking off 76 times for 4,744 yards and 42 touchbacks.
Kohl‘s ranked Keltner as a five-star kicker in the 2024 recruiting class, ranking him 10th nationally among kickers. Here’s what Kohl’s said about him:
“Keltner had an excellent performance at the 2024 Kohl’s Senior Challenge. He scored 10/10 in the charting and competed at an elite level in the field goal competition. His overall score on kickoffs was 108.00 proving the fact he has power 5 kickoff and field goal talent. He commands his “A” ball well and is a pure ball striker. While attending the 2023 Kohl’s National Scholarship Camp, Keltner showed that he is ready to compete with the top kickers in the class. He scored 33/36 points on field goals and had a kickoff score of 109.23 points. In 2021 he scored an impressive 26 points during the field goal charting; he followed that up with 103.5 points in his second kickoff charting session. Keltner also showed his potential as a punter, hitting several punts over 3.9 seconds of hang time. Keltner has all of the tools to be one of the top prospects in his class and play early in college.”
He rejoins long snapper Nolan Akins, who also went from SMU to OSU in this portal window. OSU has also added long snapper Caden Yates (North Texas) and punter Lachie Pozzobon (Stephen F. Austin) to its specialist room by way of the portal.
