Cowgirl Hoops: Heard Continues Hot Streak, OSU Beats Kansas 85-76 in Lawrence
OSU is off to a 4-2 start in Big 12 play.
After cracking the 20-point threshold just once in the nonconference, Stailee Heard has scored in the 20s three times in a row early in the Cowgirls’ Big 12 schedule.
Oklahoma State beat Kansas 85-76 on Wednesday in Lawrence, where Heard scored 21 points to go with nine rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block.
She got going early, hitting a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter while also ripping down three boards. But Kansas finished the frame with the lead at 21-20.

The second quarter was the Haleigh Timmer show. The South Dakota State transfer scored 14 points in the quarter, going 5-for-5 from the field and 4-for-4 from 3.
The quarter featured a 6-0 KU run that gave the Jayhawks a 29-27 lead before the Cowgirls rattled off 17 straight points. Timmer scored 11 of those, with Heard and Micah Gray each chipping in three. OSU went into the locker room with a 46-40 lead.

The hot streak continued in the second half. The Cowgirls scored the first 10 points of the third quarter and went into the fourth up 64-54.
Heard scored nine in the fourth, as she got to the charity stripe for five shots and made all of them. The Cowgirls mostly kept the Jayhawks at arm’s length for the whole fourth quarter.

Timmer and Gray each scored 18 points, combining to go 7-for-16 from 3-point range. Jadyn Wooten added 15. It’s the 15th time this season the sophomore guard has scored in double figures.
This win pushes the Cowgirls to 15-4 this season, as OSU is off to a 4-2 start in Big 12 play.
OSU returns home for a game against All-American Audi Crooks and Iowa State at noon on Sunday. The game will be televised on FOX.
