Five Thoughts on Oklahoma State’s Overtime Win Against West Virginia
On a great game that had a terrible ending.
STILLWATER — A great game ended with a huge bummer.
Oklahoma State beat West Virginia 91-84 in overtime on Tuesday night in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Here are five thoughts on the game.
1. Prayers Up to Parsa Fallah
On a five-game losing streak, the Cowboys had a lead late in overtime.
It should’ve been a time of celebration in Gallagher-Iba Arena, but with 5.5 seconds to play the entire gym fell silent.
Parsa Fallah went up an dunked a ball to put the game on ice but landed awkwardly and immediately fell to the ground and started slamming his hand on the hardwood.
Teammates stood stunned as coaches and trainers gathered around Fallah and got him up on a wheelchair. With his face covered, Fallah threw a hand to the air to the OSU fans as he was rolled out of the arena.
It was horrible.
Fallah finished with a team-high 18 points to go with eight boards, four assists, two blocks and a steal in 34 minutes.
He has been the heartbeat of the team this season and the fan favorite.
To show just what kind of guy Fallah is, he came into the postgame news conference on crutches to deliver a message to the OSU fanbase.
Parsa Fallah obviously didn’t need to come do media after suffering that injury, but he had a message to #okstate fans.

Prayers up for Parsa.
2. Kanye Clary Ran the Show for the Pokes
It’s almost tough to think back to the basketball game, I’m not going to lie.
But, let’s try.
Kanye Clary has probably been the steadiest hand the Cowboys have had this season. It hasn’t always been flashy, but Tuesday it was.
Clary finished with 17 points and six assists to just two turnovers in 43 minutes. That’s eight more minutes than any other Cowboy. It was also a career-high in minutes for Clary.
He hit some huge shots late. His most impressive was a step-back 3 in the corner that made it 71-68 with about five minutes to play. A few minutes later, Clary hit another step-back 3 from the top of the key to push the Pokes’ lead to 77-72 with 3:06 to play.
On the season, Clary is up to 133 assists to 53 turnovers. It’s the most assists a Cowboy has had in a season since Jawun Evans had 204 during the 2016-17 year (the Brad Underwood season).
“We talk a lot about Kanye distributing the basketball and managing the team, and I think he’s done a tremendous job with that,” Lutz said. “Tonight, he saw that we needed him to score some, and he hit a couple big shots to bail us out maybe when we weren’t playing nearly as well.
“And I can’t understate how great he was defensively when he had (Honor) Huff. I don’t know that Huff scored on him. Maybe one or two baskets, but I don’t know that Huff scored on him.”
3. A Unique Game for Anthony Roy
Tuesday marked the first time since 2022 that Anthony Roy finished a Division-I game with just one 3-point attempt.
Despite that, Roy played well.
He had 10 points and six boards and was a team-best +17 in his 32 minutes on the floor, as Roy showed he is more than a 3-point sniper.
“Well, I thought Anthony Roy did a pretty good job rebounding,” Lutz said. “He also made plays for others. He came off some ball screens, and he distributed the basketball.
“And then in the overtime, I thought that was one of the best defensive performances I’ve seen out of the young man. He took pride in guarding (Treysen Eaglestaff), and he did not let that kid get by him, whereas he had driven him a couple times in the first half. He gave up five points back to back in the first half, and then in overtime, he did not allow that to happen, which is a huge step forward for him and that really helps our team.”
4. Have a Night, Andrija Vukovic
Andrija Vukovic scored a career-high 12 points Tuesday, but he was so upset that his friend got hurt he didn’t care to talk about it after the game.
Vukovic has taken huge strides forward this season. His dozen points came on six shots, and he was 4-for-4 from the foul line. Vukovic also brought down five boards and had an assist and two steals.
With Fallah’s injury, which for what it’s worth is still undiagnosed, Vukovic is probably set to take on an even larger role. The Cowboys will need him to keep playing like he did Tuesday night.
5. What’s Next?
The Cowboys still need a minor miracle to get back into the NCAA Tournament picture, but their chances to pull off the feat weren’t going to get any better if they kept losing.
OSU has a pair of road games coming up, first at Cincinnati on Saturday before the Pokes will head to Orlando to play UCF next Tuesday. Both of those will be Quad 1 opportunities, and the Cowboys already have a win over the Knights.
It all feels like must-win territory, and even if the Cowboys can miraculously return home with two wins and upset Houston to close the regular season, they still might need to do some work in the Big 12 Tournament.
