Tia Warsop made plays in the field and at the plate that helped lead the Cowgirls to a seventh straight win.

Oklahoma State opened its series against Kansas with a 8-1 W on Friday night at Cowgirl Stadium. Warsop cracked the game open in the fourth with a base-loaded single that scored Rosie Davis and a pinch-running Gabby Castillo.

That draw-breaking hit came after a third inning where Warsop made a sliding catch in left field before hosing down a runner at the plate.

In the Cowgirls’ past 10 games, Warsop is hitting .367 (against some tough competition) with seven runs scored and nine RBIs.

Those first two runs would be all Ruby Meylan needed — though she did get more. Meylan threw six innings — the first game she has played in since March that she didn’t pitch the full game. She gave up the one run off four hits while walking none and striking out eight.

RyLee Crandall came in and threw the final inning, allowing one hit before forcing a game-ending double-play.

Once Warsop broke the seal in that fourth inning, the runs started flowing for the Cowgirls. Warsop and Macy Graf scored on an Audrey Schneidmiller single in next at-bat in that fourth inning to make it 4-0.

Then in the fifth, Claire Timm and Rosie Davis each hit solo shots to push the lead to 6-0. It was Timm’s eighth of the season and Davis’ sixth.

The Jayhawks plated their run in the top of the sixth before the Cowgirls quickly covered that up with back-to-back jacks in the home half of the inning.

The first came via redshirt freshman Madison Hoffman, who is on fire right now. It was her third home run of the season, all of which have come since April 22. She enters Saturday hitting .471 on the season.

Then freshman shortstop Aubrey Jones hit her fourth round-tripper of the year two pitches later, giving the Cowgirls the 8-1 lead.

The Cowgirls’ series against the Jayhawks continues at 2 p.m. Saturday. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
