Nebraska native Ruby Meylan left the circle on Saturday to a standing ovation.

Unfortunately for the Cowgirls that will officially mark her goodbye to the program following the team’s 9-1 loss in five innings to Nebraska in the Lincoln Super Regionals.

She left the circle in the middle of the fifth inning after the Cornhuskers loaded the bases following a home run which gave Nebraska what was then a 3-1 lead. Oklahoma State had two outs at the time and had given up a solo homer followed by two hits and one walk before Oklahoma State pulled its ace.

Meylan’s final entry for the Cowgirls was hardly reflective of her tenure as she gave up seven hits, six earned runs and two walks while striking out two of 24 batters faced.

RyLee Crandall replaced Meylan. She hit the first batter, then gave up a 2-RBI single before giving up a home run which put the game in run-rule territory.

Senior Audrey Schneidmiller recorded her lone hit in the bottom of the inning to give OSU some hope, but Nebraska pitcher Jordy Frahm (formerly Bahl) struck out Aubrey Jones and Karli Godwin to end the game.

Rosie Davis scored Oklahoma State’s lone run of the game in the first inning after an RBI single from senior Lexi McDonald. Fellow senior Amanda Hasler was responsible for the Cowgirls only other hit in a game that saw Nebraska record nine strikeouts.

Speaking of which, Meylan started the game with her 800th career strikeout, a mark that would rank third-all-time among Cowgirls if they all came during her Oklahoma State career. Still, in two seasons Meylan struck out 389 batters to rank 13th all-time in program history.

Meylan ended her career with 392 innings pitched for the Cowgirls which would rank 16th in program history.
