Cowgirls Release Nonconference Schedule, Which Includes Trip to National Power South Carolina

South Carolina has made the Final Four in each of the past six seasons, and this upcoming year, the Gamecocks will host Oklahoma State’s most-hyped team in some time.

Oklahoma State released its nonconference women’s basketball schedule on Friday, which revealed that the Cowgirls will be making a trip to play Dawn Staley and South Carlina on Dec. 6 in Columbia.

The Cowgirls will have a good idea where they stand come mid-December with back-to-back games against South Carolina and Oklahoma (in OKC).

A sneaky good game on that schedule is OSU’s trip to Brookings, South Dakota on Nov. 15. The Jackrabbits have made the NCAA Tournament in each of the past four seasons and made the tournament 14 times since 2009. They’ve won five Summit League titles in the past six seasons.

Jacie Hoyt’s squad has gone through a massive amount of turnover this offseason, but it has set up the most talked-about team for Cowgirl Basketball in some time.

Among the players Hoyt and Co. added are Iowa State transfer Audi Crooks and Florida transfer Liv McGill.

Crooks was a two-time All-American at Iowa State. She averaged 25.8 points and 7.7 rebounds a game for the Cyclones last season.

A guard, McGill transferred in from Florida after averaging 22.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 2.6 steals a game last season as a sophomore.

Those two join up with Stailee Heard, Hoyt’s lone returner from last season. A two-time All-Big 12 selection, Heard has averaged double figures in each of her first three seasons with the Cowgirls, averaging 13.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists through 96 games at OSU.
