The state of Oklahoma appears to have a darn good crop of rising juniors on the hardwood.

McAlester’s Rodney Washington on Saturday announced that he has been offered by Oklahoma State, with Washington joining Parker McDaniel (South Central Prep) and Keaton Murry (Putnam City-North) as in-state Class of 2028 prospects to recently announces offers to OSU.

Washington is a four-star prospect who also excels on the football field at McAlester. Listed at 6-foot-2, Washington is the No. 63 player in the 247Sports Composite ranking for the 2028 class, which makes him the state’s top prospect in that particular ranking. Along with his OSU offer, Washington’s offer list features Kansas, Missouri, OU, Alabama and others.

Despite being 6-2, Washington is known for his rim-rattling dunks via his ridiculous athleticism.

Washington played on the North Texas-based AB (Anthony Black) Elite on Nike’s EYBL circuit this summer. Across 20 games, he averaged 17.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists a game at the 16u level.

He scored 40 points in a game on May 23, going 2-for-5 from 3 while bringing down seven rebounds. About a week earlier, he scored 33 points in a game, going 2-for-3 from 3 to go with nine rebounds and six assists.

On the football field, Washington caught 25 passes for 388 yards and four touchdowns as a sophomore receiver at McAlester in 2025. He also made eight tackles and had an interception on defense.

Lutz and staff got a good look at Washington this summer, as the Buffaloes attended Oklahoma State’s team camp.

Washington, McDaniel and Murry are just going into their junior years of high school, so there could still be some time before they’re ready to pick a college program. But it appears as if basketball in this state is in good hands for the next few years.
