The Cowboys could be without a starting safety for their big game in Houston.
The initial player availability report for Oklahoma State’s game against Houston (6:30 p.m. Saturday) was released on Wednesday night, revealing Mose Phillips as doubtful. Defensive tackle Landon Dean is listed as out, while freshman receiver Dayvon Standard was listed as probable to make his college debut.

Phillips suffered an apparent shoulder in jury in the Cowboys’ win against UCF this past weekend. He has started the past four games for the Cowboys, and his 199 defensive snaps are the second-most any Cowboy has played this season. That comes after Phillips played just 20 snaps against the Knights, his fewest total against an FBS team this season.
“Mose, we’ll see this week how he develops, you know with the shoulder,” Morris said on Tuesday. “And so I don’t know on Mose yet.”
Standard is a freshman Morris has been excited about going back before the season. Listed at 6-foot-4, he was a late addition to the Cowboys’ 2026 recruiting class out of Arizona.
“Standard is a guy that we were really high on early on in camp, had a little bit of an injury, so has worked his way back,” Morris said. “So, you’ll see him in the game this week. He has a bigger, longer, 6-2.5 frame that has really good ball skills. Add a little depth there behind (Justin) Bowick, somebody that can spell him from time to time because he’s playing almost every play for us.”
Per the initial report, Houston is a little bit more banged up than the Pokes.
Linebacker Jaden Yates and defensive tackle De’Marion Thomas (former Cowboy) are both listed as out. Yates has played 226 snaps this season — second-most of any Houston linebacker. Thomas has played 173 snaps — second-most of any interior defensive linemen.
Meanwhile Jalen Mayo, listed as questionable, has played the third-most snaps of any Houston defender.
