Pokes in the NFL Week 4: Randle, Weeden Score but It’s Not Enough for the Cowboys
Oh, and Dan Bailey woke up too.
As if Cowboy fans hadn’t seen enough crazy the past two weeks, there was the Sunday Night Football game.
With the Dallas Cowboys trailing 20-13 late in the fourth quarter, quarterback Brandon Weeden delivered. Weeden led Dallas to an eight-play, 91-yard drive, which might have triggered flashbacks of his dominate days at Oklahoma State for some fans.
The drive culminated with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Williams to tie the game.
But the game wasn’t over. With 1:51 to play, the Cowboys had to put the ball back in Drew Brees’ hands, which is always a scary thing.
Brees drove the Saints to the Dallas 14-yard line, where Zach Hocker would attempt a 30-yard field goal with 14 seconds left. But Hocker is no Dan Bailey, and the ball bounced off the left upright, giving Weeden and the Cowboys another chance.
Alas, hope would be squashed when C.J. Spiller caught a screen and sprinted 80 yards for the game-winning score.
Still, it was a solid game for Weeden, who was 16-of-26 for 246 yards and the touchdown. Joseph Randle had another touchdown for Dallas this week, though it was a close call. The play was initially ruled a fumble, but the review showed that the ball broke the plane before Randle lost it.
He finished with 11 carries for 26 yards.
In other news, Dan Bailey finally woke up. After having his eyes closed for so long, kicking field goals with them open must have seemed insanely easy. Bailey was a perfect 2-of-2 on field goals and extra points on Sunday.

Tyler Patmon had a solid game with a tackle and a pass defended, but he missed a golden opportunity at an interception.
Brees nearly picked off by Tyler Patmon. Three and out for the Saints. @FooteNote, see Payton never learns.

Hey, Kevin Williams played too
Kevin Williams also played in the Sunday Night Football game, but he was donning a New Orleans jersey.
Williams finished with two tackles, finally causing some people to acknowledge the fact that he exists.
@robertmays @billbarnwell since when is Kevin Williams on the Saints?

Kevin Williams is with the Saints? I'll be damned. Man's a warrior.

Gilbert shows off his speed
Justin Gilbert finally got on the field for the Cleveland Browns Sunday, earning a spot returning kickoffs. Gilbert displayed his elusiveness by returning three kicks for an average of 36.7 yards. He also added three tackles on the day.
On 3 kick returns, Justin Gilbert averaged 36.7 yards per clip

Though he has a long way to go before he is a major part of the defense, it is certainly a good sign to see Gilbert contributing.
